The top 5 mistakes made when playing pulltabs! Lost money!
1. Reading a winning pulltab wrong.
a. The majority of mistakes happen when a .50-cent and .25-cent winner is cashed in for more pulltabs. Actual winner was a $50.00 and $25.00 tier winner. The player glances to quickly at a pay window and thinks it is just a .25-cent or .50-cent winner and turns it in as such. The pulltab seller can make the same mistake and cash it in as .50-cent or .25-cent. The Pulltab seller might also be unscrupulous and say it was a small winner.
2. Not knowing what a winning pulltab looks like on each pulltab you are playing.
a. Do not assume all pulltabs have a payout window or a line indicating a winner. There are many different variations of pulltab play. Three across to criss crossed symbols can play different on certain pulltabs.
b. Always look at the front of the pulltab to see the winning symbols in exact order of play.
c. Manufactures have filler losing symbols on many pulltabs. I.E. when you open a pulltab there are symbols that are not on the front of the pulltab. The majority of the time these symbols are just fillers and not misprints.
d. The symbols are printed small for a reason.
3. Mistakes when added multi-winning amounts on the same pulltab.
a. Older pulltabs do not add each winning amount. The player must add these up themselves. When cashing in, tell the pulltab seller the amount that you have come up with. Agree upon a total amount with the seller. Ask questions if total is different and recount.
b. Newer tickets have payout windows. This small window is located next to the symbols on a winning pulltab. This box (window) is the total amount won on the pulltab.
4. Getting shortchanged on winning pulltabs due to miscounted playback amounts.
a. Count all you winning playbacks. Keep all big winners separate.($5.00 +) Turn them in cashier to get verified. Agree upon your count amount first. Ask for a recount.
5. Having the pulltab seller chose pulltabs for you!
a. Most pulltab sellers will give you the pulltabs that they were told to push by their boss. (Big winners are gone!)
b. Make sure the purchase amount adds up to the amount you are spending. Check purchased pulltabs in front of seller so they can see any shortage amount. Some pulltab sellers will short customers on purpose.
